Dior’s jewelry designer gets her own exhibition
Dior’s renowned jewelry designer Victoire de Castellane (remember her from our Rose de Dior post?) will be getting her own art exhibit. Showing at the Gagosian Gallery in Paris. For the already very colourful and highly accomplished de Castellane, this is epic. As Elle Magazine points out, “It’s the first time a contemporary fashion jeweler attached to a design house has landed an actual exhibition, so we imagine there’ll be quite a fashion turn out.”
Running March 3rd to 26th, the exhibit will overlap with French fashion week, ensuring quite a buzz.
The exhibit will be 10 pieces called “Flowers of Excess” which have been designed to actually transform, rather than being a single, fixed piece of jewelry. de Castellane based these pieces of the 2007 collection she created for Dior’s Belladone Island collection.
These colorful baubles were created based on imaginings of poisnous and magical plants in an imaginary underwater island. Ideas and sensations were culled from the plant kingdom and used as inspiration for the over the top jewels: arousal, intoxication, excess and sensuality.
With a starting point like that, the 10 piece exhibition is sure to be a stunner. Don’t miss it!
