Griffins and Gargoyle Antiques

29Oct10

Looking for another place to find unique pieces? Check out Griffins and Gargoyle Antiques in Chicago. You could easily pass this building and it’s charming courtyard without really noticing it’s there, but pay attention! A visit in to this shop is worth a trip to Ravenswood.

Goodies inside!

Will you be more intrigued by their space or the antiques in it? It’s a toss up. The old, eclectic building is a great reflection of what you can find inside. The offerings are eclectic. Heavy on furniture — tables, benches, french chairs and even church pews — you’ll find items that are either well-worn or beautifully restored. There is even a workshop the owner uses to tinker with pieces that pass through.

A great mix: antique silver coffee service, a 5 foot Tour Eiffel and mixed pottery pieces.

Antique French cast iron stove. Measures about 3.5″ high.

I love spiral staircases… this one is original to the building. It’s more sturdy than it looks!

Available in a pair, these French console tables are in fantastic condition. They would be a perfect pop of light colour to an entryway, hallway or in a room.

Stop in for a visit. You’re sure to find something to catch your fancy! Griffins and Gargoyle is located at 2140 W Lawrence (at Lawrence and Damen.)
